The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) monthly consumer price indicator has shown some softening in prices for the fruit & vegetables and dairy categories. Fruit & veg prices eased by 2.9% from December 2022 to January 2023, meanwhile dairy prices managed a 0.5% drop.

Meat & seafood category was almost unchanged with a marginal 0.1% lift in prices over the month. Breads & cereals also up a minor amount, posting a 0.2% gain. The alcohol category still displaying some inflationary aspects with a price gain of 0.5% from December 2022 to January 2023.
