The Australian wheat export data is up to date as of November. In November, exports were down to 579kmt, from just over 1mmt in October. This is also massively down on last year’s 1.1mmt.

It isn’t unusual to see significant falls in exports during November. On average, November is the lowest month for wheat exports. It is also not a surprise to see that there was such a huge change from last year, as 2023 was our record year of wheat exports, and huge volumes continued to get exported throughout the year.

In 2022 and 2023, Australia had a huge export program, and this year, the expectations are for the third largest program, which will be around 25mmt.

One thing is for sure, though, that Australia now has plenty of capacity for larger and larger export programs.

In the bulk market, the Philippines were the top dog followed by Indonesia and Japan. Eqypt were also notable with a small 12kmt cargo. Egypt is one of the most important wheat import nations but generally will purchase from the black sea region.
