The Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment (DAWE) live export trade figures for November show a sharp drop in the live sheep trade for the month, with no sea shipments noted. Just 957 sheep were transported via air for the month and demand from the top three live sheep export destinations (Kuwait, UAE and Jordan) were all absent this month.

So far during the 2021 season Kuwait has accounted for 60% of the Australian live sheep export trade. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Jordan have contributed approximately 13% and 7%, respectively. Combined these three Middle Eastern destinations have accounted for 80% of the trade in 2021, so there absence over November was sorely missed.
