October 2025 - Beef export update

A steady result for total Aussie beef exports during October with 139,286 tonnes shipped offshore. This is now the second highest monthly trade volumes on record, after the new high was set back in July 2025 and beats the September result by 274 tonnes.

Compared to the five-year average for October the current beef export flows are 50% stronger.

A summary of the top trade locations, in order of top market share for 2025, is as follows:

USA – The beef trade to the USA eased by just 1% over October with 41,544 tonnes reported shipped. Despite the mild decline trade levels still remain 81% above the five-year average pattern for October.

China – Flows to China also eased marginally, with beef export volumes down by 2% during October to 20,258 tonnes. The trade levels still remain well above the five-year average pattern though, sitting 35% higher than the October seasonal average trend.

Japan – Beef trade to Japan saw another strong gain with trade volumes up 18%, almost mirroring the 17% increase seen in September. Trade volumes to Japan hit 26,883 tonnes, which is the best monthly result since July 2024. Current demand for Aussie beef in Japan sits 52% above the average trade volumes for October, based upon the last five years of the trade.

South Korea – There was 17,675 tonnes of Aussie beef reported shipped to South Korea in October, which represents a 17% drop on the levels seen during September. Despite the strong easing the trade remains 11% above the five-year average trend for October.
