The articles I’ve been writing all have a sustainability theme, based on high level farming principles and/or government policies linked to achieving Carbon Zero, combined with the effect of corruption, poverty, and war on realistic mitigation of global warming.
I am an eternal optimist. Gen Z can rightly say “Well good for you…..at 52 the affects ain’t gonna kick in till you’re gone!”…..However my 10c worth is that whilst many of the government policies are a step in the right direction, albeit at the bottom of the cliff, we need to accept that the best case scenario is flattening of carbon emissions and the planet is likely to warm well in excess of 2 degrees celsius this century (we are told 1.5 is tipping point…..really?).
Tipping point is an emotional description, there will be major changes. As you can see below the correlation between emissions and warming is clear at the same time as the world population exploded from 1 billion to 8 billion.
So lets get our head out of the sand and proactively plan for the consequences, which most scientists cannot agree on. The 2030 UN Sustainability Goals are being championed by the less than 20% of the world who can afford them. There is good logic around planting trees/protecting rainforests and moving to genuine renewable energy, but with the global population still growing and the carbon emission cost of development or war rebuilds, they are only marginally better than ‘pissing in the wind’.
Instead of banging on like an old wind bag with no solution, I’m going to outline where I’m headed with these rants/articles……this is a framework of topics covered and topics to cover in attempt to infuse logic into sustainability.

I’m confident I can influence most with my ‘Global Logic’ topics, however some of the farm logic topics may not seem quite so relevant…..the point here is intergenerational and efficient farming is essential ‘top of the cliff’ global warming mitigation, poor farming (guilty at times myself) or organic farming (sorry guys) ain’t gonna feed the growing population through more climate related disasters, and arguably has twice the carbon footprint per kg of protein/ME that well run farms have…..across the world.
We are not gonna fix the idiotic wars around the world…..they will wear themselves out eventually, but efficient farming can stop some of the future climate related wars by avoiding famine and the resulting anarchy.
Ultimately human greed turns the idealist and populist UN Sustainability goals into a Greenwashing fiasco.
