The Magnificent Seven Agwatchers Podcasts

While Episode 3 is our serious business venture, we have a hobby side gig called the Agwatchers Podcast. This month marks our four year anniversary so for those that haven’t yet had the “pleasure” of listening in or are relatively new subscribers here is a list of a few of my most favourite episodes for you to catch up on (in no particular order).

Ukraine & Agriculture

A live recording on Twitter spaces podcast from Ukraine as the Russian invasion starts. We have a live talkback discussion about the Invasion of Ukraine by Russia. We invited Elena Neroba and Masha Belikova, both grain analysts living in Ukraine to let us know how they are. We also talk to a whole bunch of different folk about the ongoing situation in Ukraine and its impact. Switter, Yeti, Stefan Meyer (and his wife), Simon McDougall and Brett Hosking. (Sound quality not great at points as it is live and during an invasion, but audible.)

John has been working investigating supply chains as a part of Australia’s national security. In this discussion, we find out how much at risk our fuel supply chain is (along with many other products).

Carbon Cowboys

“I’d rather die than sell carbon credits.” At the ABARES conference, we listened to Fiona Conroy, a livestock producer from near Geelong, discuss her farm and environmental markets (namely carbon). In this presentation, Fiona discussed points never usually mentioned in reference to carbon markets – the risks that farmers face in selling credits. We thought we would get her onto the podcast to have a chat about her views.
