Spring has started strongly in NSW with lamb yardings for the first three weeks of September averaging levels 27% ahead of the five-year trend.

Last week NSW lamb throughput lifted nearly 20% on the week prior to see almost 152,000 head of lamb presented. This is 43% higher than the seasonal average for this time in the year.

Wagga reported a big lift in new season lambs and by the looks of the price action across NSW sale yards light lambs and restocker lambs must have been dominating the volumes as these lamb categories were the only NLRS reported types to see prices decline on the week.

The increased lamb throughput in NSW helping to drive East coast weekly lamb yarding level above 200,000 to sit nearly 29% ahead of the five-year average seasonal pattern.

In a promising sign for demand NLRS reported East coast lamb categories all registered price increases ranging from 8c-50c on the week despite the surge in supply.
